I thought about it for a while. But I don't plan on joining the military.

Do you wear corrective lenses at all? If so, you can't fly. What branch I would try to join would depend on the time and region of global and soon-to-be hot spots. I think being a medic or somesuch would be a very noble position, however a communications job or intelligence would be a little safer.

My grandfather on my father's side was a medic in WWII. He brought back all sorts of things from the war. He got a Luger off a dead German and also a set of about 100 photographs the German had taken. My grandfather eventually translated them all, I have them around the house...somewhere. My grandfather on my mother's side was an anti-air artillery gunner in Okinawa during WWII. My family has its share of war memorabilia, dating back to the sword one of our relatives carried in the Civil War.
