Nagise I disagree with your comment about franchises stretching to a breaking point. Sequels can be brilliant if they are as well planned out like the originals. What JP4 needs is someone who recognises a chance to make a great movie that will be as loved as the original instead of just spitting out a peice of garbage to make the compnay some dough.

But I still have some sense of optimism, a weak sense of optomism. Even though it sounds completely ridiculous. But damn, man you seem to shudder in disgust whenever someone mentions JP4. If I felt that way about JP4 I wouldn't even look up news about it.
I'm beginning to wonder why I visit so much, myself. At first I was psyched about the fourth film because they kept going on about how "great" of an idea Spielberg had for it. But ever since then everything that's been said about the film has sounded like some degree of a bad idea. From the moderately moronic "expanding on the Spino and cutting the T.rex altogether," to utterly insane ideas like the subject of this thread, to forboding hints like "Raptor fans will love it"...none of it's sounded good (yeah, I love Velociraptor mongoliensis, and moreso its cousins Deinonychus antirrhopus & Troodon formosus, but I'm pretty much bored with TEH RAPTOR from the Jurassic Park films, thank you very much). I guess I'm still holding out hope that -- if nothing else -- it'll at least be an unintentionally funny camp-fest, but I've all but given up on it being any sort of legitimate addition to the saga.

Some franchises just aren't sequel-friendly, though. Jurassic Park is a sci-fi thriller based on themes of man's futile attempt to contain nature and the ethics of genetic manipulation...that can only go so far before the themes burn out and it just becomes a wasteful, mindless, monster movie series. The first & second films preserved the themes and kept the all-around sense of quality. The third (and fourth, by the sound of it) are just straying into the barren wasteland of mindless hack crap.

Am I saying a JP sequel at this point cannot be good? No, but the chances of it not sucking are slim. Very slim.

That's exactly what I do NOT want it to become. I'd actually rather have a mindless action flick than something completely disgraceful. But you're absolutely right - the basic premise of Jurassic Park can only go so far, and I think it's gone as far as it's going to go with any respect.

Jurassic Park deserves a "final" film, and that is what I continue to hope JP4 turns out to be.

This script won't be the final one, too ridiculous.

JP4 needs to keep continuity -- why not touch on the San Diego incident a bit more, such as the unexplained deaths of the ship crew (escaped raptors or spitters or compies?). Nedry's lost can o' embryos could be a focus too -- but it must take place back in time, within a few days of when he lost it & got killed, or else the cooling would expire. But it's a great way for Biosyn or others to get the chance to wreak havoc.

ANd the cast has got to return. JP3 I found to be a good action film, but it was made worthy of the JP name because of the continuity of Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler --it was nice seeing these characters after their absense from TLW. In JP4, we really need to see as many JP and TLW and maybe even glimpses of JP3 characters such as Billy or the goofy old Kirby family.

For example of such brief appearances, a JP-related news item on TV could be observed being watched by these minor characters in their homes -- just something for more continuity to pull the 3 films together more, and then JP4's main plot finishing with excitement and grace.

Think they can pull it off?

Oh, and Dodgson told Nedry that the shaving can only had enough coolant to keep the embryos viable for 36 hours.

In the extensive review of the new JP4 script, the reviewer reveals the most awkward rendidtion of the JP4 script we ever have encountered. I mean, wow... Super DNA Raptors mixed with dog DNA to obey humans? yeah right. I will pretty much have to disown JP4 if Universal lets that one get past the scripting stage.

These super Raptors are like gonna be the Mortal Kombat characters of the 21st century... not the dios we love and respect (I will even go as far to say that if this version of JP4 gets made that JPIII will rank above it. I didnt think that the story could get any worse.

In my opinion, we had some better early rumors on JPDb than the current script. If JP 1, 2, and 3 were never made, this script might make 10-15 mil on opening box office, but if i see so much as a trailer, I will slaughter myslef right in the middle of the theatre by pouring gas on myself and scorch in protest (no matter how good the movie im about to see is supposed to be.

Agreed, That is the most sick story I've ever heard. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E
IF they make this i will shoot myself, I feel sick after reading that. David Boreanez? Pleeeaase. Somebody needs to shoot Bill Monahan n John Sayles. I HIGHLY doubt that is what spielberg had in mind. It's completely ridiculous. THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN MAKE THAT MOVIE. They better not... Almost any JP fanfic is better than that plot. I thought for-sure that the plot would deal with the disease. This really sucks. IT BETTER NOT HAPPEN

I seriously hope this script is never made into a film. It veers far too sharply off the course of JP. I prefer the whole "power of nature" approach in the first two films. We are awed, inspired, and blown away by the sheer aura the dinosaurs possess.

Genetically cross-bred super-soldiers are not part of the Jurassic Park universe, in my opinion.
