Well, the astoroid theory doesn't sound too good, if you ask me...
Firstly, the astoroid would have to be small..., so it wouldn't shatter the Earth...
then, the dust that would go up... (no matter on the size of the astoroid), it would spread, and affect the world in a few months... this would have lastest for a few years-- and if it did, it would have killed off EVERY living thing, because it would have effected the air so bad... (sulphur and all that crap up in the air, will choke every living thing).
now, some scientists have said that the earth would have been blanketed in darkness for years... if this happened, all plants would have died out, because all/most plants reply on sunlight to go through photosynthsis... (I can't spell, ok?)... And if this happened, most other living things wouldn't have survived either!
Now, we know know that mammals adapted to all this, right? The question is... HOW? Evolution takes YEARS AND YEARS to take place, and I don't think that these small rodents adapted to the enivoronment in a few months/years... its not possible...
Also, if the environment was so bad, and there was no sunlight... it would have been extremely cold on Earth, right? If so, then how could the crocodiles have survived...?
...lol... I could go on and go...

well, during that time, certain few species could have adapted just enough to survive and become acclimated to the new environment.
they have said that there were some ferns and such that managed to survive the...uh...rough tmes
(i'm just trying to figure out a plausible explanation)
oh and please go on if there's more /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
o yeah photosynthesis /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

lol... just had to point out the spelling, didn't you...? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> lol.
Anyway, this astoroid theory has a lot of "holes" in it... , I can't find a suitable way to make it all fit..., because somehow, this thoery is supposed to kill off dinosaurs, prehistoric plants, swmming reptiles, flying reptiles and some sea creatures...
and make sure that the mammals, birds and other reptiles, such as crocodiles survive.
This theory though, kills off either everything, or ALL reptiles (including the crocodile...), you see, I look at it from every direction... and the common astoroid theory doesn't make sense in every way.
...hm, I had tons of notes about it yesterday...

hmm...well, instead of the common asteroid theory..how bout a modified asteroid theory?
(i haven't done any research recently so correct me if this has any flaws in it)
how bout this, about 5 asteroids hit the Earth causing dust to fly in about 5 areas, not fully encompassing the Earth, killing off the areas where the dinosaurs thrived and sparing the areas where mammals were very well adapted...this would mean that over time, there would be less and less dinosaurs in those mammal areas, leaving a few reptiles who could adapt and allowing the mammals to dominate...after the dust settled, the mammals spread to those areas as well
again if there are flaws correct me, i'm just going off the top of my head...plus it's kinda late here... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

The only thing you need to fix, is that mammals would have lived in the same areas as dinosaurs, as they might have fed on their eggs? Other than that, I think it sounds ok... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Oh, have you heard of the Nemesis theory...? I think that your theory kinda links to it...
Also, we have to have a theory or something that will explain the K-T boundry...
A combination theory sounds like a good idea.

thanks
well what i meant was that it would wipe out the areas that were mostly dinos, and not the areas where it was mostly mammals, you know so some dinosaurs would live and some mammals would die, but dinosaurs would become endangered and die out naturally since they do not have such large numbers
no i haven't heard of a theory by that name...
oh, and what's the K-T boundary it sounds familiar...

If you want info on the K-T boundry... you can check out : http://www.zoomdinosaurs.com/subjects/dino...ssary/K-T.shtml
All the info on it, can be found there..., and it really brief and easy to understand...
The Nemsis theory -aka- "The Two-Sun Theory"... the theory goes like this:
Our sun orbits with a twin star which we have not discovered yet. It is nicknamed "Nemesis". Many stars have twins like this, and are called "Binary Stars". Whenever Nemesis comes near us, about every 26 million years, its immese gravity pulls the asteroids orbiting between Mars and Jupiter. They scatter across the solar system, hitting planets as giant meteorites.
