It's where you don't really stop all the way at a stop sign. If the instructor doesn't feel the car jerk backwards a little as you stop, then you didn't stop completely. And they fail you for it! At least that's what they do here.

Ah, stop signs are very rare here. I don't know of a single one anywhere near where I live, and I didn't see any on my 2-hour drive to Alton Towers today either.

Most junctions here have Give Way signs, which basically means that you only stop if there are cars coming.

Wow, at least you tried to stop! I flunked the driving portion of my test the first time around because I completely didn't see a sign. Whoops! Eh, that was..um...4 years ago, so yeah.
On another point:
When you're 15-16 years old, it does feel like one is too young to be driving. Short distances aren't so bad, though. But when you see those people driving on the freeway, GAH! For the love of Pete, ya know?

My cousin just failed his test yesterday. He was driving perfectly but the car stalled in the middle of an intersection. The instructor failed him for it.

We don't have driving instructors. After you get your license, you have one year to take either have to take driver's ed. class in high school or sit through a 4-hour community driver's ed. class. Other than that, your parents are the ones that teach you to drive.

Once you're eligible to get your license you go to the court house downtown (here they only give the tests on Monday and Tuesday mornings), and you stand in line until it is your turn (we only have two examiners), then you take your test.

That's the way it works in this hick town anyway.

Here, you have to get a learner's permit after you turn 16. Then after you have so much driving experience, you can go take your test. Then if you pass, you get your license.

I think its different in each state. Here in VA you have to be at least 15 1/2 to get your permit and you have to hold it for 9 months before you can get your license. You have to take Drivers Education, here its part of 10th grade P.E (Which is Mandatory). Then You must have behind the wheel, which you take for 7 days with and instructor and on the final day you take your test (here you don't have to do it thru the DMV unless you haven't taken these classes). Then you also have to fill out a 40 hour driving log, which I am going to just fill in w/random dates because i lost mine and recently found it. And i'm starting Behind the Wheel next month. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
