So what will you be doing for a second job, then?

Congratulations! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> That's a very big reward for you after all these years of studies.

I would have to agree. Palentology, while it could be a desireable field, should not really be a first and primary job choice. There's no money in it. Should just be a hobby.

LOL Of course there's no money in paleontology. All the money that used to be in it is being shot at Iraq. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

And I already had a second job. Albertsons Deli Man. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

What awaits me in the future? Graduate school, earning my Masters Degree in Evolutionary Biology. How's that for ya there? /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

And thanks guys. It certainly wasn't an easy road gettin' here, and I'm sure it certainly won't be an easy on in the future. It'll be interesting to see what happens. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Oh, and if paleontology were just a hobby for everyone, I can assure you that we'd have no dinosaurs/other prehistoric beasts in our museums, and certainly no Jurassic Park. There's quite a bit of full time work in paleontology, you just gotta try a little bit more than filling out a job application to get there.

Like, sell your career integrity to Universal/Dreamworks?

LOL

Actually, there's a really really high demand for paleontologists in California right now because California is one of the few states that requires a Paleontologist be on duty to monitor any active developement (i.e. construction) and there's so much developement that's going on, the jobs for Paleontologists are freakin' insanely in demand. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

And in Paleo, your career integrity is in jeopardy from the get go. No matter what you do, there's gonna be someone that wants to make you look stupid. Paleontologists are a very bitter bunch of people. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

And thanks beeurd! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
