Make sure that wiping your comp hasn't left you with out-of-date drivers, specifically your graphics card. That's all I can think of to suggest.

Like beeurd said, that's another thing. You'll need special drivers for your motherboard if you did not use the factory restore disc from HP. I remember one time I didn't install my VIA chipset drivers correctly for my motherboard. After that I was unable to play games because it wasn't detecthing my video card correctly.

You can type it up word for word. You can also use the PrtScr/SysRq button on your keyboard. You can press that button and it takes a screen shot of your current desktop. Then you open any imaging program and go to Edit > Paste. You can save the image as any format you want. Try for JPG compression at about 60% (.60/1 or 60/100).

Well if you have a website you can upload the picture to your webiste and then use the command below:
