Spino wasn't from ingen

Was it the original DNA manipulated Jurassic Park, the return of inGen in The Lost-World, or just the worth-wild running around frantically Jurassic Park III that captured your imagination.

Apatosaurus was used in the novel yes; however, novel canon is seperate from movie canon and I got Apatosaurus from the Sovenir The Lost World: Jurassic Park magazine published by Topps.

The Spinosaur's fin would still be barely noticable until it reached a sub-adult stage (at least that's what I guessing) where it was getting closer to sexual maturity. As lilgamefreak pointed out there is no such thing as a sail bone, only spinal vertebrate and the spinal vertebrate would grow as the animal became older. So the sail could've been used as a mating display, temperature regulator, something the animal could've used to make it seem bigger.

I doubt there were any expreiments beyond 1993. Do not presume the JPOG age ratios as fact, I sincerly doubt the animals would've lived 3-4 years as that's a short life span. InGen wouldn't have evacuated Site B if it wasn't for that hurricane approximately around 1993. Please, I insist you go back and view that scene between Malcolm and Hammond.

I'm thinking the growth boosters could be controlled to a point especially if it was a supplement in the food supply until the dinosaurs reached a certain age, but that's if InGen had used them in the first place.

The people in TLW would not have ran into the Spinosaurus as events in TLW took place in the South Western portion of the island while events in JP3 took place in the North Eastern portion of the island. I have a canon map (although the scaling is a bit off) that would help you see the worker village in relation to the Embryonics Administration Building which I dubbed Spinosaurville. Shameless plug, just go to the site listed in my signature and go to the Isla Sorna map section. The map was originally created by Dr. Dino, but he had Trespasser locations on it after I corrected it I put up so every one could see. When it comes to the movies I don't consider anything else canon (it's why I disregard the novels, video games, comics, and toys).

first, i have to say that i hope you realize that i never said that i considered any of these things i have put forward as fact. i was merely stating a few thoeries i had to explain a few plot holes.

yes, the sail probably would not be noticable at first, but what about in x-rays? also, i already understand the purpose of the sail, i only did not know what it was made of or how fast it would grow.

at this point, there are many possiblities for things to have been done with those islands that nobody else knew about. it may not have been probable, but it is possible.

i was not going by JPOG rates, i was basing it on the childhood growth they mentioned in a discovery channel documentary. but as i said in my last post, i had interchanged childhood growth with full life growth. i have seen that mistake already.

he did evacuate, but being that he was protecting it means that he did not abandon it. and who is to say he did not return a few workers to do a little unfinished business?

that would explain why Spinosaurus was absent back then, but...it is a small island, and all that activity would sure attract some attention.

I really do doubt sinister and vile experiments happened on the islands. There really has been no evidence suggesting that so far in anything in respect to movie canon. Lots of accidents can and always do happen despite the precautionary measures put in place, but I doubt InGen was evil until it came under control of Ludlow and he looked like he was rather narrow-minded on going to Site B just to harvest the animals and not create new ones. I doubt Hammond would send a team back to Isla Sorna after the hurricane to continue any form of research or experiments. Hammond was on his whole naturalist kick and held the InGen board from doing anything for four years to Isla Sorna.

For some reason, I keep getting the impression that you seem to think inGen was this evil company under Hammond's control and I just don't see any evidence to suggest such an opinion, maybe I'm wrong in feeling that but it's how your opinion is coming across to me.

Under X-rays, if the spinal column isn't fully formed as an infant, it wouldn't appear any different from a Baryonyx at first. The spine vertebrate would essentially check out normal and you wouldn't be able to tell if the vertebrate were going to grow or not. Plus X-Rays expose an amount of radiaton, I doubt they would endanger the animal to said doses of radiation repeatedly unless something appeared to be wrong.

Again please view the map from my site to see the location difference. Here's the direct link: http://jplegacy.kafuka.org/files/images/maps/sorna.gif

oh, no i didn't mean they would do really cruel experiments, i just meant that, few companies would pass up the oppurtunity to try some things with manipulating DNA or altering their brain functions...or something...i mean, wouldn't it be helpful if the theme park carnivores were a bit more tame?? or something like that. and of course, there could have been some accidents that just went terribly wrong. and also, what about in the JP3 trailer.."the experiment...was terminated"

oh not at all, i didn't think InGen was evil or anything like that, i just think that there are so many possibilities for things to have happened that weren't mentioned in the movies since they were always in danger and didn't really have time for Hammond to tell them the entire history of what he's done with those islands.

i see that you are correct at this point about the sail. after that post explaining it to be the vertebrae, it changed what i thought about it. and what i said was maybe they had some other less harmful way of looking at the skeletal structure.

didn't they say the carnivores were isolated in the interior? and they were on that island for about 4 days, in that time, don't you think the carnivores might have been drawn out of the interior to see what's going on? and are you sure it was THAT big?

Meh, trailers just hype the film. I don't really consider anything said in the trailers as anything serious.

Probably they did experiments with brain altering as there is evidence of the version numbers on the embryos when Nedry steals them to place in the converted Barbasol can. Another thing I feel points to evidence of altered brain states are of course the different Velociraptors the Raptors native to Isla Nublar and the town in TLW seem to come across as dumber than the ones that inhabit the north. There were some pretty wacky theories on the Raptors at once too, one such is that after so many years of them being extinct their bodies just advanced enough to make them uber smart, but I go with the version number theory as there is some substantial evidence for that especially with the two species of Pteranodon and so forth.

The carnivores were isolated in the interior of the island yes, but I think the hunter expedition did indeed enter the interior to steal the baby Tyrannosaur. Though I think if it wasn't for the Hunter Expedition I doubt the Gatherer Expedition wouldn't have ran into the Tyrannosaur family and changed their territory. Sort of like if it wasn't for Nedry sabotaging the security systems in the park Jurassic Park would've been a success.

That map is from the canon prop that was on Ebay a while ago. It was scanned by Dr. Dino I altered the original one when I received my copies and reconfigured it to match movie canon. I don't consider Trespasser canon and the original had Trespasser locations included. There's reasons why I don't consider it and other video games canon, but I won't get into that as it's usually boring. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

that's what i've been saying. there's a strong possibilities that they did some experiments on the brain which would explain some odd things in the movies.

i suppose predators would rarely change their territory if it's working well for them...but still, it seems at least, some of them would come over to see what all the commotion was about. surely some would try to find the creatures responsible for destroying their game trail.

i don't think the island was that big. when hammond shows Malcolm the map, it shows territories all over which take large portions of the map. now for those territories to be so large and still be valid for the movie, the island would have to be smaller.

There's a whole lot of inconsistancies in the movies between what is shown in one scene as opposed to what is shown in the other. I dismiss it as a continuity errors, really nothing more or nothing less. The JP films are plagued by continuity problems, for instance in JP the species count differs on varying levels, Dodgson says 15, the Park Tour Brochure map has 12, and the Embryo Cold Storage have five slots on each machine. Nedry's canister only had slots for 10 as well. Not to mention there's a fundamental difference between the Nublar shown on the computer screens in the Control Room as opposed to the tour map. As I said before simple technical/prop goofs can cause headaches when establishing what is canon and what isn't in a particular area. I do think the island is quite large to have at least an ecological system of at the very mininum of 24 dinosaurs living on it.

yes i know that production slip ups are often the cause of continuity errors. i just prefer to try to explain them and work them into the story.

of course it would normally have to be big, but it is an island, and that looks big enough to be a small country. if it were that big, surely someone would have setteled on it before 1990 or 1993. (i know you don't include the books, but the fact that the island was so small was an issue in TLW book. they even figured out how they could survive in such a small place and with so many carnivore species. that's something they left out of the movie that i think should be included)

I drew the conclusion that it was big enough to support that much dinosaur life, but not big enough to draw attention to it in the form of settlement. Then again the theory of Dr. Malcolm and Dr. Harding in the novel could hold true for the movie island, but there's been no film aknowledgement of it.

yes, that's why i thought it would be a good idea to bring that theory into the movie, just in case viewers were wondering about it
