Was it the original DNA manipulated Jurassic Park, the return of inGen in The Lost-World, or just the worth-wild running around frantically Jurassic Park III that captured your imagination.

Evidence of Gizzard Stone Scene

Post by scallenger »

Most JP fans have known about this particular cut scene as desrcibed at JPD:

Extended: The Sick Triceratops
Though Ellie only gets as far as the Triceratop's droppings in the film, the shooting script reveals the true reason behind the Trike's illness: the Trike accidently swallowed the toxic West Indian Lilac berries when she swallowed a new set of gizzard stones (rocks that dinosaurs swallowed to help mash their food). Though the scene solves a problem that many have considered a plot hole, it was likely cut for pacing reasons; to keep the suspense building until the main road attack. To read an except from the scene click here.

Well, watchin JP for the "dunno how manyenth time", i noticed something. Right near the end of the trike scene, when Ellie is saying to Grant that she wants to stay behind with Dr. Harding, look in her hand: it appears to be a round gray stone or something. A gizzard stone? She continues to hold it until she sits back down next to the trike and then sets it on the ground. Then the scene ends. Check the movie for this, I am almost positive it is a gizzard stone used in the cut scene

Well, she does pick up a couple of stones after looking on the ground right before the "dinosaur droppings" scene.

your kinda ruining my moment here...

but it is interesting that at the start of the scene before the droppings and the start of the scene before everyone leaves the triceratops, Tim is standing right next to Ellie... more evidence that the scene was filmed I say...

but hey, i'm just scallenger.

It was probably either of two things:

1) The producer of the supplemental material on the "Making of Jurassic Park" laserdisc (which eventually became the supplemental material on the DVD) couldn't get the "okay" from Spielberg to include deleted scenes in the set or he just plain didn't find any of them interesting. Frequent Spielberg collaborator Laurent Beazeuro(sp) has produced all of the Spielberg laserdiscs/DVDs since Jaws in 1995 (he also did the Lost World DVD) and regularly includes deleted scenes if they are interesting. Not very often lately, has Laurent B. included deleted scenes, though. Notice the absence of them on the upcoming Indiana Jones DVDs.

2) The studio wanted to save the deleted scenes and outtakes (which they had promised to put up at Jurassic Park.com in the fall of 2000 when they first released the discs) for future versions of Jurassic Park on DVD. I'm sure when 2005 rolls around we'll get all-new JP DVDs. And that wouldn't surprise me.

I really believed that scene was in the movie. It struck me that it did not was in the Video release, but then maybe the comic made me see things.

I only saw JP once in the cinema and i was 10 years old so...

Anyway i asked older people who saw the movie several times and they claim that there were not such scene in the movie.

If it never was there is ok, but definately it was filmed. It had to be.

And i noticed the Ellie's stone ages ago, that's why i supposed they cut it out off the Video.

And the storm starts out of a sudden (i mean it is cloudy dark in seconds).

Its sometime i saw the movie, but i think that Ellie gets something from the floor (stone or even a seed) but i think she drops it after looking close at it.

Well, it doesn't really help the movie does it? In the novel, it's a great scene though.

Well Its very similar to the novel scene, and it does explain the sickness.

Now we dont know why the Trike is ill, we only can think that they have a problem with maintaining the dinosaurs, wich it false...
