Erika Grams (Webmeister of the official Sam Neill website, http://www.ibiblio.org/samneill/) said this,

I confirmed with Sam's assistant ... this is an old and not true rumor. ( http://filmforce.ign.com/jp3/articles/428/....html?fromint=1 ) At
this point Sam still has no intention of doing JPIV and doesn't yet know
what his next project is.

This was said on 04/13/04, I read it on a Sam Neill mailing list.

Good... Alan Grant was an interesting character but they need to bring new life into the JP franchise. It would be so stupid to bring him back, how in the hell would you convince this man to come to Jurassic Park a 3rd. time? It's best to start off with a completely new slate of characters that the audience is not yet familiar with. It will make the sequel a more interesting film if they don't have any returning characters. That would help make it feel different and new, it won't be just more of the same.

All I care about is Ian Malcolm being in the movie, as long as he is and there are raptors and a T-Rex im happy. NO SPINO!

/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I thought he said he WOULD be. He's the reason other than the dinosaurs that I like the series so much. Maybe he will change his mind. He said he loved doing JP3 and working w/ the Raptors or as I call them Zaptors (short for Zanny Raptors)

Yeah, I'd prefer Malcolm as well (though I would like Grant as well), but I would include the Spino...so the T-Rex can get his/her revenge on that bastard! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

yeah, Grant was cool in the first movie, and was ok in the thrid, but will proably suck in the fourth. Ian Malcom was better overall. but starting with a completely new slate of charecters would suck. people would have no connection with them at all. It would blow in my opinion. Nick Van Owen would be cool to see return. But not Billy, he's not a good actor and the charecter was boring. but i do agree that MOST of the charecters should be new, but not all.

Grant and the raptors were the only reason I liked JP3. They should get rid of the 3 guys who wrote JP3's screenplay. Plus the movie was short. If JP 4 does have Grant and Malcolm with Hammond it'll be a good movie. Especially if it has the action of JP3 and a story as good as JP with Spielberg directing.
