Question about John's Cane

Was it the original DNA manipulated Jurassic Park, the return of inGen in The Lost-World, or just the worth-wild running around frantically Jurassic Park III that captured your imagination.

Does anyone know how long John Hammond's cane is? I'd really appreciate it. Also is that a real mosquitto in the cane amber or is it fake?

There curently is no one selling any on ebay. I'm talking to someone who offered me their's but it doesn't look like the Icons cane. Is there another replica maker besides Icons who makes the canes? Also he said it was 30 inches long and I'm trying to find out if that's the actual length of the real one. I would really appreciate any info.

Okay well, I've found a bit of good news,
I found something which MIGHT help,

On the website: http://www.slipups.com/items/17195.html

It says:

Jurassic Park - Molded Amber

In the scene where John Hammond is looking at the top of his cane, you see it is made out of one of those pieces of amber with the mosquito inside. What you can also see, when they do the close-up of the amber, is the line where they stuck the two halves together! While Hammond is turning it slowly, watch for the way it catches the light down the middle, showing the seam.

I think that this sadly means that the amber incased with the mosiquito, on the top of John Hammond's cane is actually likely to be a fake amber.
it's actually quite, real looking, so if you've got any plans on making one of your own, you'll find the method for making it.
If you can't be bothered to look, here are the instructions directly from the website:

How to make fake amber artifacts 101:

1) Get an egg-shaped mould, and half fill it with the liquid resin.
2) Wait for it to set solid.
3) Place the dead insect on the top surface of the now hardened resin.
4) Fill the remaining space in the mould with more liquid resin.
5) When hardened, remove mould.

You now have a fake lump of amber, complete with embedded insect. It has to be made in two stages, or the insect will simply sink to the bottom of the liquid. The only giveaway is that you can usually see the 'join'. Check out plastic paperweights with encapsulated objects to see this for yourself.

I could've sworn it was at least 32-34 inches.

I didn't know someone was making the canes still. Can you tell me how much you paid and the site and or the email address you got it from? I'd really appreciate it.
