QUOTE although I was told by several people, including professors I didn't know aside from name, that the work I did was equal to and better than most of the Master's level work that was done.
Heh heh. Yeah, I got the same from the palaeos on my committee and from a few of the folks I acknowledged. It's frustrating being told that the work you did is worth a Masters, but legally worth a BSc.
QUOTE The specimen is from Turkey and they're still trying to work out publication rights and such with the people over there
Specimen of what? New dinosaur?
QUOTE Speaking of which, were you at the last Society of Vertebrate Paleontology Meeting held in Denver last year?
Nope. Couldn't afford to go last year, although yes, I did submit some stuff for the auction. I heard it got good money, so I'm happy about that. Won't be going this year either -- I'll be at the Dinosaur Park Symposium instead.
QUOTE Where'd you get yours at?
Carleton U in Ottawa. First graduate from the new vert palaeo program.

Nah, not frustrating. I was happy that they thought my work was good quality. I personally thought it was total crap. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Plesiosaur. Not a new species, but first from the region.

Darn. I was hopin' that I'd get to meet ya. Oh well, maybe some day eh?

Awesome. Congrats on being the first palaeo from your school. Cool stuff.
Cool. I'm working on a new mosasaur from Manitoba right now. It's Plioplatecarpus, which has never been described from the area, and it's likely a new, basal species, though I don't think we're going to name it until some more diagnostic material is available.
I wouldn't mind trying my hand at some plesiosaurs next... Maybe a polycotylid.

I don't doubt it. The next SVP will be held in Ottawa, my home town, so I'll definitely be at that one. I also attended SVP two years ago in Minnesota. Were you there?

Yup, I was in Minnesota and Oklahoma before that. Darn, too bad I didn't realize you were there. And I will almost definitely be at the Ottawa meeting. I don't see why not anyway. Cool beans.

Oh, and a polycotylid huh? Interesting critters, I read quite a bit on them while I was doing my research, but my specimen turned out to be a polyptychodon. I guess extra knowledge never hurts though. ;D

And cool stuff workin' on a Mosasaur. I had a couple friends workin' on Mosasaurs and my advisor, Dr. Jim Martin, was crazy for 'em. Ever heard of him?

If he's the same one who works for the SDSMT, then only briefly.
By the way, what's your real name, rextheovermind? Appologies I've you told me before -- I've likely forgotten.
